Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is Goshna?

Goshna is a non-profit organization with a focus on Orthodox Jewish education and alleviating the burden of tuition costs to Jewish families Nationwide. To this goal, we administer innovative programs to bring our communities together to work in unity for this important cause.

  • How does this program work?

Our process is simple. You can make a tax-deductible donations towards Torah education programs in $199 denominations (Guematria Tzedakah). You will receive an email with your donation receipt and another email with a raffle ticket. Every time 100 donations are made, Goshna is immediately going to sponsor a $15,000 dollar scholarship and 1 of the 100 donors is randomly and automatically selected online to get the privilege of nominating a yeshiva or school where Goshna will sponsor the scholarship. The odds are always 100 to 1.

  • How does the process of selecting the winning ticket work?

A Third-Party Draw Service is used for each and every raffle. In a similar fashion to a certified official, RANDOM.ORG acts as an unbiased third party who conducts the drawings in a manner that is guaranteed to be fair and truly random.

  • Can I decide to take the money instead?

No. Goshna will only sponsor scholarships to orthodox schools and Yeshivas directly.

  • What happens with the remaining $4,990 from each raffle?

The remaining $4,990 from each raffle will be used by Goshna to administer more scholarships to families that cannot even afford to make a $199 donation and other families experiencing verifiable financial hardship. In all cases Goshna sends the funds directly to the Yeshiva or school and the board and trustees make sure they are used for the purpose they were donated.

  • What Institutions or Schools qualify to receive the funds?

Qualifying institutions include those with a traditional orthodox education mandate.

  • My son wants to go to Israel for a year to learn in Yeshiva. Can a scholarship be sponsored for such programs?
